  • Base Salary, Level A $105,350 - $112,462 + 17% superannuation 

About the opportunity

The School of Life and Environmental Sciences (SOLES) is currently seeking two Postdoctoral Research Associates in Poultry Nutrition and Production to work on a project enhancing sustainable poultry production by utilizing Australian feed ingredients. This project is a collaboration between Poultry Research Foundation and multiple government, industry and university partners. The industry challenge is to develop cost-effective feed solutions for our industries with enhanced welfare and sustainability outcomes.

In this role, you will work closely with Australian producers to find solutions to enhance sustainable poultry production. Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • independently communicate with industry stakeholders to co-design research proposals

  • conduct high quality poultry feeding studies with good animal husbandry practice

  • liaise with the farm and lab technical team for growth experiments in the chicken facility

  • perform food/feed chemistry analyses to evaluate nutrient utilization and metabolism

  • communicate with industry stakeholders to transform research outcomes

  • provide analysis of feed conversion efficiency, growth metabolism and welfare

  • take a lead role in the production of manuscripts and reports

  • contribute to the supervision of graduate research students as directed.

About you

  • a PhD in poultry sciences, such as poultry nutrition, production, avian or mono-gastric physiology, immunology

  • a proven track record of publications as the lead author and demonstrates excellence in conducting original research and scholarly endeavors

  • strong statistical skills for experimental design, data analysis and interpretation

  • a good understanding of data management and statistical analyses

  • experience in project management and grant applications

  • proficient written, oral and interpersonal communication and time management skills and is an enthusiastic and collaborative team member

  • familiarity with ethical considerations and a willingness to work with animals, primarily poultry.
