The Position
The Postdoctoral Fellow positions (up to three (3) positions) form the integral parts of a team to work on the exciting Australian Research Council (ARC) Future Fellowship, ARC Discovery Project and ARC Research Hub programs – recently awarded to Professor Zongyou Yin . These projects aim to pioneer advancements in materials science, focusing on catalytic energy conversion and storage solutions that address global energy challenges. The research outcomes are expected to offer groundbreaking insights into reaction mechanisms and the interaction between catalysts and their environments, significantly impacting sustainable technology development.

In this dynamic role, the Postdoctoral Fellows will be instrumental in driving research innovation, collaborating on international projects, and shaping future scientific education. As a key contributor, the Postdoctoral Fellows will support the school's mission by fostering academic excellence, securing research funding, and providing mentorship to students, ensuring each day brings new opportunities to influence the field of materials science.

The Person
We are looking for qualified Postdoctoral Fellows (up to three (3) positions) with experience in materials science, particularly in the fields of catalytic CO2 photo(thermal) reduction, hydrogen production from wastewater, or advancements in proton battery technology. The ideal candidate will be someone who relishes tackling challenging problems and is proactive in encouraging team members and colleagues to engage in collaborative problem-solving to develop effective solutions.

The successful candidate will collaboratively work with:

  • a cross-disciplinary team, including material chemists, theoretical experts, and AI specialists, to optimize catalyst design and function for efficient CO2 conversion, contributing to a meaningful step towards environmental innovation;
  • experts in the fields of machine learning, high-throughput computing, and material science to optimize photocatalyst structures and performance, thus driving innovation in clean energy and sustainable water treatment technologies; and
  • a team to enhance the proton storage capacity of solid electrodes and to assemble a prototype proton battery, contributing to the advancement of renewable energy solutions involving close collaboration with our industrial partners.
