About This Opportunity  

We are seeking a Strategy and Partnerships Manager (India). This is a leadership role which aims to further The University of Queensland’s global engagement agenda.

This role is responsible for leading the direction of UQ’s engagement across countries, regions and partners, in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. This role will be an integral leader in the Global Strategy and Partnerships team, providing strategic direction and support to the team, with the Senior Manager, Strategy and Partnerships.

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop clear, creative and detailed country and partner engagement strategies across a broad range of geographical regions, which are implemented and evaluated through a whole of university approach to country engagement and associated comprehensive annual work plans.

  • Research and analyse data sets and market intelligence to assess the effectiveness of current UQ initiatives and partnerships as well as capture competitor activities and trends to inform engagement mapping in priority countries and regions

  • Ability to establish mechanisms to monitor, evaluate and report effectively on engagement activities with partners and countries.

  • Identify, create and manage a wide range of international projects and programs across a range of countries and partners, including development and oversight of staff, project timelines, resources, stakeholder communications, and deliverables.

  • Develop and implement a suite of highly effective systems and tools including templates, procedures, and reporting mechanisms to guide, optimise and evaluate global engagement activities and achievements and to provide consistent, comprehensive and accurate internal information for both your work, and the work of the team.

  • Identify, map and evaluate key external stakeholders and conduct stakeholder analysis to determine current and future needs and assess these against strategic objectives and available resources, ensuring fit-for-purpose solutions to expand partnerships.

  • Engage with multiple stakeholders in diverse countries and regions which are strategically aligned to UQ’s Global Engagement Framework, to develop highly effective collaborative relationships and initiatives.

  • Provide leadership, expertise and guidance to the Global Strategy and Partnerships team, and faculties and institutes, to identify strategic global engagement opportunities and translate these into meaningful outcomes, which includes the management and coordination of bids, proposals and submissions.

  • Work with the Senior Manager, Strategy and Partnerships to provide input into the overall direction of the Global Strategy and Partnerships team, including staff and work program management.

  • Lead the development of effective collaborative relationships with professional and academic staff across the University and represent Global Strategy and Partnerships in a range of forums both internally and externally.

This is a Full-time, Fixed term position for up to June 2025.  At HEW Level 8, the full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range of $106,838.31 to $119,780.70 plus a generous super allowance of 17% superannuation. The total FTE package will be in the range $125,000.82 to $140,143.42 per annum.  


About You

  • A Degree, preferably a Postgraduate Qualification, and extensive relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.

  • Demonstrated experience in developing, implementing, and evaluating strategies in collaboration with diverse internal and external stakeholders, and facilitating ongoing monitoring of the strategy to ensure achievement of stated goals.

  • Highly skilled in developing effective professional relationships with diverse stakeholders, in multiple countries and regions to support the delivery of strategic goals.

  • Demonstrated ability to identify areas for improvement through data gathering, as well as a proven track record in research and high-level conceptual and analytical skills for investigating issues, problem-solving and interpreting trends, policies and practices.

  • Experience in cultivating a culture of innovation, solutions focused thinking and creativity to support a high performing team and to address complex and diverse business challenges.

  • Demonstrated leadership and management skills to direct the work program of team members and to provide guidance, support, and direction to team members, as required.
