About the Role

The Manager, Graduate Research will oversee the comprehensive support and development of over 1000 graduate researchers within the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology (FEIT). This role entails navigating complex challenges associated with Faculty growth, the aftermath of COVID-19 restrictions and the integration of new industry-focused PhD programs.

The Manager will fostering partnerships and engagement across FEIT and the wider university community to ensure adherence to academic policies and procedures and contribute to the enhancement of graduate researcher outcomes and experiences.

Responsibilities of the manager will include:

  • Manage the team assessing and processing graduate research applications and offers, candidature progress and experiences including industry engagement.
  • Contribute to recruitment strategies with the Manager, Future Students, MarComms  and senior academics in FEIT to implement events and experiences to attract graduate research students.
  • Support the FEIT academic leadership in graduate research and their activities including graduate research committees and working groups and reviews of current scoring for student admission ranking.
  • Oversee financial reporting and follow up for graduate research.

Who We Are Looking For

The manager will possess proven management skills and demonstrated leadership capabilities to effectively motivate and lead staff. Additionally, excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential for cultivating relationships with a wide range of professional and academic staff across various divisions within the Faculty and University.

The manager will also have:

  • Demonstrated ability to support policies and establish and implement new, or streamline existing, procedures and initiatives to maintain a cycle of continuous improvement in graduate research from a service-oriented perspective.
  • Experience in interpreting and applying complex data analysis, policies, procedures, statutes and regulations for providing a high level of advice to a diverse range of clients.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively influence and negotiate successful outcomes with a range of stakeholders.
