About the Role:

With a focus on discovery and access platforms, the Manager, Digital Services is a key contributor to the Library's strategy and operations. Reporting to the Associate Director (Scholarly Resources and Strategic Initiatives), this is a role with scope to innovate and work alongside leaders and colleagues to shape the future of VU Library’s services and digital strategy in maximising the connection with our community.

This position will be offered on a full-time ongoing basis at the classification level of HEP 8 classification, with salary of $106,346 - 119,760 per annum plus 17% employer superannuation contribution, working 36.75 hours per week.

An example of duties you may perform will include:
 

  • Managing staff and functions associated with the development, maintenance and management of digital library systems, platforms and associated infrastructure to ensure effective access to online library resources and services.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with vendors and service providers, and also undertake periodic market scans on trends and developments  
  • Facilitating management of and access to collections and provision of library services
  • Liaising with colleagues across the University in relation to integration of library systems and online resources with enterprise platforms to mitigate duplication of effort, optimise user experience, quality of data and information security
  • Managing library systems-related projects or implementation of new systems effectively to deliver the agreed project outcomes on time and within budget to achieve Library goals.


About You:

  • Embody Victoria University's values and have a proven track record of leading services and functions related to digital services provision in a university or TAFE setting 
  •  Experience leading individuals and teams of staff
  • Possess highly developed interpersonal, negotiation and communication skills including an ability to present information and concepts for a range audiences
  • Have an understanding of and experience of working with:
    • Integrated library systems
    • Discovery interfaces
    • Institutional repository platforms
    • Systems for authentication and authorization of information resources
    • Integration of these systems in an enterprise context (preferably University or TAFE)
    • Service principles and how technology and systems support VU and Library's strategic priorities
    • Metadata schemas and access protocols
  • Possess a combination of the following attributes:
    • technical proficiency 
    • library and information sector knowledge and experience
    • service orientation and recognition of the role technology plays in enabling successful outcomes for people
    • An awareness of and curiosity about emerging trends and technologies and their role in developing sustainable solutions and enhancing student and staff experience
