About the opportunity

Southern Cross University’s Vice President (Students) and Registrar is seeking an expert in data analytics, reporting and project management to join our portfolio and to help shape student success. Known locally as the Manager, Student Support, this pivotal role will identify, collect, analyse, visualise and interpret data to drive student retention and success planning strategies, as well as support other exciting student support projects. Key responsibilities include:

  • Collaborate with the Director, Student Support to develop and implement a comprehensive Student Support and Success Strategy.
  • In the capacity of Project Manager, oversee critical student support projects, ensuring comprehensive planning, resource coordination, and alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Generate and extract data to analyse and report on student retention strategies and interventions, identifying opportunities and informing decisions to improve student engagement and success. Merge multiple data sources, build dashboards, to identify trends and analyse issues from diverse perspectives across multiple student support services.
  • Establish systems, processes and standard reports to facilitate the collection and analysis of primary and secondary student data and feedback relating to the student experience from SCU systems and teams.
  • Monitor and streamline reporting for SSAF and HEPPP funding and associated activities.

About you

As a skilled Data Analyst or Project Manager, you demonstrate motivation and meticulous attention to detail, with proficiency in extracting and analysing complex datasets to provide valuable insights to various stakeholders. In addition, you will possess: 

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline such as Data and Analytics, Data Science, Business, Statistics or Project Management with at least 4 years subsequent relevant experience or an equivalent combination of relevant knowledge, training and/or experience.
  • Advanced proficiency in data analytics, automated reporting, and dashboard development, including extracting, merging, managing, and analysing complex datasets to deliver valuable insights using Excel, Cognos, Tableau, PowerBI, STATA, and SPSS is highly valued. Familiarity with SQL, Alteryx, R, or Python is also desirable.
  • Demonstrated experience in project management and strategic planning and reporting.
  • Knowledge and experience in survey and evaluation data, both quantitative and qualitative, with advanced knowledge of Qualtrics to design complex surveys.

Salary and benefits

  • Full-time, continuing (permanent)
  • Located at Gold Coast. Generous relocation support available.
  • HEW Level 8. The base salary ranges from $111,116 - $122,525 per annum, plus 17% employer’s contribution to superannuation. The total remuneration package is up to $143,354 per annum.
