We have an exciting opportunity to welcome a Manager, Alliances to our team for a period of 9 months to cover a period of leave. The Alliances Manager is responsible for managing the UNSW Alliances portfolio and playing an important role in the management of specific initiatives, communication, and engagement with partnersThe Manager reports to the Director Alliances and has one direct report that work collaboratively to raise the UNSW’s global profile.  

Other key responsibilities include: 


  • Proactively contribute to the development and implementation of operational and business improvement plans and initiatives. 


  • Utilise partnerships and communication channels to promote alliance opportunities and activities and to ensure that its achievements are celebrated. 

  • Work with alliance governance and management structures, and other administrative units across partner Universities to ensure that the alliances are managed and delivered in a timely and effective manner, ensuring that alliance activities are aligned with other UNSW processes. 

  • Proactively review and improve Alliance frameworks, policies, procedures and guidelines in consultation with the Director of Alliances. 

  • Prepare presentations and reports for the Director to meet governance or operational requirements. 


The role will require a combination of strong project-management, organisational and interpersonal skills to help strengthen accountability and relationships with key stakeholders. We are looking for a collaborative and innovative individual who is agile and process driven to oversee reporting processes for key governance committees and major working groups. 

We are also looking for: 


  • Minimum 3 years’ experience with UNSW systems and processes. 

  • Relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant experience or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, training, and experience. 


  • Demonstrated ability to be highly organised and self-managing, including a proven capacity to establish work priorities, meet timelines and achieve project priorities 

  • Excellent critical thinking and analytical skills and ability to successfully apply these to manage complex issues and solve problems. 

  • Proven experience supporting committees and providing strategic advice, planning, and reporting to senior management, along with demonstrated experience successfully managing projects through to completion, on time and on budget. 

  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral, including preparation of briefing papers and submissions, producing complex management documents, and communicating complex technical concepts in non-technical language.
