About the team

The Student Accommodation and Community directorate of The University of Western Australia (UWA) sits within the Education Portfolio, which is led by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Education). Within Student Accommodation and Community resides several diverse and equally essential areas that work to provide a meaningful and sustainable student experience across the life cycle of UWA’s student community.

About the opportunity

As the appointee you will provide a high level of physical and administrative support for the Maintenance team at University Hall and undertakes direct supervision of nominated staff as required and agreed with the Facilities Manager. This position is responsible for undertaking minor construction and maintenance tasks which requires a strong working knowledge of University Hall and its operational needs. From time to time there will be a need to provide advice, training and support to others, including external contractors.

To be considered for this opportunity, you will demonstrate:

  • Year 12 or equivalent competency
  • Relevant maintenance experience at the appropriate level
  • Demonstrated team management experience
  • Well-developed organisational skills with the demonstrated ability to set priorities and to meet deadlines
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in a range of computing skills including Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Current knowledge of relevant regulations and standards
  • Ability to work independently, show initiative, problem solve and work productively as part of a team

A Fit for Work Assessment, National Police Clearance and Working with Children Check will be required prior to commencing work.
