About the team
The Centre of Aboriginal Medical and Dental Health (CAMDH), based in the UWA Medical School, was established to assist in promoting the concept of holistic health care and cultural security in relation to Aboriginal health and health care practice, research, and learning. The Centre’s aims include development of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health leadership in clinical and public health practice, education, and research. The Centre seeks to establish a positive national and international reputation in Indigenous health through commitment to Indigenous leadership, best practice, and capacity development for Indigenous and non-Indigenous partners.
About the opportunity
Under the direction of the Director, CAMDH, this position undertakes independent teaching and research in Aboriginal Health to the School of Medicine programs. This will involve responsibility for Indigenous student support, contribution in other Aboriginal Studies areas, as well as contribution to other courses, programs, and administrative roles that the Centre has responsibility for.
To be considered for this opportunity, you will demonstrate:
PhD or an undergraduate in medicine or an academic field relevant to the discipline or Master’s degree or equivalent work experience in Aboriginal health at a senior level.
Demonstrated high quality teaching in Aboriginal health and related areas at the undergraduate, and/or post-graduate levels.
Demonstrated experience in curriculum development and the delivery of lectures or training programs both face to face or online and in marking assessments.
Demonstrated ability in supporting and mentoring Aboriginal medical students.
Experience working with Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people in education settings.
Evidence of effective interaction and service contribution within an institution and/or in the wider community, including professional bodies, government departments and/or other external organisations.
