The Department of Information Systems and Business Analytics, located within the Deakin Business School (AACSB and EQUIS accredited) is a large and growing Department with over 20 full time tenured and tenure track faculty members, including three Full Professors and three Associate Professors. Our faculty members have PhDs from leading international universities in the world, including USA, Europe, Hong Kong and Australia. Our faculty members publish in top international journals including those in the FT50 list and the AIS Basket journals.

Your key responsibilities will include:

Education and Employability

  • Maintaining deep discipline knowledge which is applied to inform unit design
  • Assisting in the integration of industry and research practice to inform unit/course design and teaching practices Participate in teaching teams to develop courses and materials and collaborate to produce innovation in curriculum design
  • Delivering learner-centric, research-informed teaching practices across different levels/modes of delivery
  • Leading the integration of industry and research practice to inform unit/course design and teaching practices across the discipline within the Department
  • Leading teaching teams to develop courses and materials and innovation in curriculum design which influence teaching for the discipline or across multiple disciplines
  • Delivering learner-centric, research-informed teaching practices across different levels/modes of delivery

Research and Innovation

  • Initiating, designing, and conducting high-quality research activities generating high-impact outputs
  • Widely communicating research outputs to discipline(s), other sectors, and the community, nationally and internationally, ensuring impact in the field and the community
  • Attaining sustained national and building international reputation as an emerging world leader, based on a significant and growing focused body of work, recognised for quality, excellence and impact
  • Developing and increasingly lead intra- and inter-disciplinary research collaborations, to enable the creation of knowledge and understanding and solutions to complex problems
  • Department and University Citizenship and Engagement
  • Assist/contribute to the implementation of local citizenship activities and contribute to effectiveness as an influencer
  • Contributing to the implementation of specific aspects of the University’s strategic agenda

 Key selection criteria for this role:

Qualifications and experience

  • PhD in Information Systems, Business Analytics, or a closely related discipline
  • PhD/FPM candidates expecting to submit their dissertation by mid-2024 are encouraged to apply
  • Nationally and internationally recognised research reputation underpinned by publications in quality journals such as the FT50 list, ABDC A* journals, AIS Basket journals and the UTD journal list
  • Expertise in at least two of the following areas of research specialisation within the Department: information systems; business analytics; business analytics and decision-making; machine learning; digital innovation, transformation and disruption; digitally-enabled globalisation; digital entrepreneurship; IT and business value; digital health; artificial intelligence and the future of work
  • Success in obtaining external research grants
  • Expertise in at least three of the following areas of teaching focus within the Department: business analytics; information systems; artificial intelligence for business; digital transformation; machine learning; data science; cyber security; enterprise systems; project management
  • Excellent record of scholarly learning and teaching in UG and/or PG programs, including innovative curriculum design and research supervision
  • Demonstrated capacity and passion for leadership of teaching, research and/or administration
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a proven ability to establish good working relationships with colleagues
  • Positive engagement with research, community, industry and government to enhance the national standing of the discipline.
