We are reducing the overall use of academic casual employment and providing meaningful pathways for casual academic staff to ongoing academic employment through our casual consolidation project.

To be eligible, you must (a) Have casual experience totalling at least two (2) teaching sessions at La Trobe University in the previous two (2) years; (b) Have not held a continuing position in a university in the previous three (3) years.

About the position

La Trobe University's School of Allied Health, Human Services and Sport is seeking a dedicated and innovative Lecturer in Occupational Therapy. This full-time continuing role, based at our Melbourne (Bundoora) campus, offers the chance to shape the next generation of occupational therapy professionals. With a focus on teaching excellence and innovation in curriculum design, you will play a pivotal role in our undergraduate and postgraduate coursework programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage students with high-quality learning experiences across lectures, tutorials, practical classes, and clinical sessions, both in-person and online.
  • Lead innovative curriculum design, embedding employability capabilities and taking an evidence-based approach to improve student experiences.
  • Mentor other academics in best teaching practices and contribute significantly to the Scholarship of Learning and Teaching (SoLT),
  • Play a vital role in student mentorship, including the coordination of practice placements and the supervision of research projects.

Skills and Experience:

  • A professional with a PhD or equivalent in Occupational Therapy, or a closely related field, and AHPRA registration.
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching and curriculum development across various modes, evidenced by positive feedback and awards.
  • A history of initiating teaching improvement projects that enhance the student learning experience.
  • Strong leadership skills in managing staff performance and development, with the ability to mentor and influence the teaching practices of colleagues.
