• Salary Package: Level B from $115,787 to $136,995 p.a. pro-rata plus 17% employer’s superannuation and annual leave loading

THE ROLE

A unique opportunity exists for a highly motivated, qualified, registered physiotherapist with extensive professional and clinical education experience to join our department as Lecturer – Industry.

The Role

Macquarie University is proud to offer an innovative and evidenced-based Doctor of Physiotherapy (DPT) post graduate degree.  Our course combines contemporary coursework with over 1,000 hours of supervised clinical placements, providing students with an excellent grounding for their future career. This role is key to delivering a successful and high-quality placement experience to our students.   

Reporting to the Head of Department, Health Sciences, you will utilise your professional and industry experience to make a critical contribution to the development and delivery of teaching and clinical placement opportunities. Key responsibilities include:

  • Oversee the design, development and delivery of both traditional clinical, and integrated academic and clinical units of study for the DPT course.

  • Collaborate with Faculty of Medicine, Health and Human Science (FMHHS) Industry academics and DPT unit convenors to evaluate and improve the experience of DPT students during clinical experiences.

  • Develop, coordinate, implement and review of first- and second-year Community Clinical Placements, which includes the Health and Wellbeing Collaboration program for FMHHS students.

  • Build and maintain effective networks with clinical partners and identify innovative opportunities in order to source clinical placements for students across a broad range of healthcare experiences.

  • Manage and coordinate the provision of support to students and clinical partners during placements to enhance student outcomes.

  • Identify, advise, and support students to adhere to FMHHS Fitness to Practice policy and retain them in the program.

  • Develop and implement strategies, policies and plans to ensure the clinical education components of the DPT course meet accreditation requirements.

  • Provide strategic support and advice to the DPT Course Director on the clinical component of the course aligned to accreditation and legislative requirements.

You will possess a tertiary qualification in physiotherapy and be interested in sharing your professional and industry experience to make a critical contribution to the development and delivery of learning and teaching within the DPT course.

The Department of Health Sciences sits within the Faculty of Medicine, Health and Human Sciences (FMHHS) whose current education suite includes courses in clinical science, physiotherapy, medicine, exercise and sports science, public health, psychology, cognitive sciences, linguistics, audiology, and speech pathology. Selection Criteria

  • Tertiary qualification in physiotherapy

  • Experience teaching, supporting and/or supervising students on clinical education placements

  • Excellent education skills and experience, including evidence of positive student outcomes

  • Evidence of creating a superior student experience and engagement with diverse cohorts

  • Proven capacity to lead, and operate effectively within a team.

  • Demonstrated proficiency to communicate in a variety of contexts to a wide range of stakeholders

  • Demonstrated evidence of organisational acumen including attention to detail
