About the Role
The Lecturer (Medical Education) at Western Clinical School will be responsible for teaching, curriculum coordination, assessment, and student support throughout the clinical placement years of the Melbourne Medical School MD program. Working with the Department of Medical Education and engaging our partners, Western Health, they will help implement a broad and richly rewarding MD program. Additionally, they will contribute to curriculum design, assessment, and educational research, fostering a supportive learning environment and continuous curriculum improvement.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Actively teach into the program
  • Work with the Western Clinical School team to ensure that all students are provided outstanding learning experiences to help them meet the requirements of Principles of Clinical Practice (MD2 or MD3) and Transition to Practice (MD4) 
  • Develop innovative methods for delivering the curriculum 
  • Continuously refine and refresh the curriculum’s structure and content responsive to feedback and changing educational methods, including discipline-specific or other reviews from time to time
  • Although a clinical appointment at Western Health is not a mandatory requirement, this position is ideally suited to a Western Health clinician who will use their clinical contacts and knowledge to implement the Clinical School’s teaching program 

Who We Are Looking For
The ideal candidate should demonstrate proficiency in navigating complex curricula and collaborating with diverse stakeholders. Additionally, they should exhibit excellence in both verbal and written communication, as well as strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.

You will also have:

  • A medical degree registrable in Victoria
  • Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching entry-to-practice medical or other health professional students
  • Substantial experience in teaching within a medical course
  • Substantial experience in the development of curriculum and/or assessments in a medical course

This role requires that the successful candidate must undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University. In the case the selected candidate doesn't have a valid Working with Children Check, they will be able to apply for the WWCC as part of the initial onboarding procedures.
