We are reducing the overall use of academic casual employment and providing meaningful pathways for casual academic staff to ongoing academic employment through our casual consolidation project.

To be eligible, you must (a) Have casual experience totalling at least two (2) teaching sessions at La Trobe University in the previous two (2) years; (b) Have not held a continuing position in a university in the previous three (3) years.

This unique opportunity is perfect for a dedicated educator passionate about shaping the future of Criminology within a vibrant academic community. Located at our Melbourne (Bundoora) campus, this position offers a 0.6 FTE continuing appointment within the La Trobe Law School.

About the Position:

As a Lecturer in Criminology, you will have the responsibility of coordinating and teaching subjects within our Criminology program. This role requires a commitment to developing curriculum, supporting student learning, and contributing to the administrative functions of the discipline. In Semester 2, the successful candidate will coordinate and deliver pivotal subjects including "Introduction to the Australian Legal System" and "Juvenile Justice."

The ideal candidate will possess a PhD in a relevant discipline, alongside demonstrated effectiveness in teaching, curriculum development, and subject coordination across various modes of delivery. A proven track record of engaging with the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning, along with evidence of innovative initiatives to enhance student experience, is essential. High-level communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with staff and students from diverse backgrounds are critical for this role.
