PRIMARY DETAIL

• Salary Package: From $133,989 - $141,514 per annum (level 9), plus 17% superannuation and annual leave loading paid on a pro-rata basis
• Appointment Type: 0.4 FTE, 12 month fixed term (with potential for renewal)
• Macquarie University (Wallumattagal Campus, North Ryde)

THE ROLE

This role will work in collaboration with the Clinic Director to provide supervision, training and day-to-day clinical decision making. The role will involve supervising post-graduate psychology students on placement, clinical psychology registrars and a wide range of local and international mental health providers who are being trained in our evidence-based programs. In addition providing advice on legal and ethical matters (such as risk, privacy, mandatory reporting and separated families) and on implementation of the clinic’s policies and research protocols is crucial to this role.

About You

The successful applicant will have extensive experience in evidence-based assessment and treatment of emotional health disorders, with particular reference to manualised cognitive behavioural therapy programs. This experience may have had a particular focus on one segment of the lifespan such young people and their families but experience across the lifespan and a willingness to skill up to provide outstanding supervision for our range of populations is crucial.

About Us

The Emotional Health Clinic (EHC) is part of the Lifespan Health and Wellbeing Research Centre. The Research Centre aims to develop evidence-based approaches to the prevention and management of psychosocial health and wellbeing challenges, from infancy to older adulthood. The EHC is one of the clinics within the School of Psychological Sciences (SoPS) in the Faculty of Medicine, Health and Human Sciences (FMHHS).

The EHC provides evidence-based mental health services across the lifespan focused on emotional health difficulties including anxiety, stress, low mood and emotion regulation. Flagship programs that have a global footprint include the Cool Kids Suite, Ageing Wisely and Study Without Stress. Services are provided in-person, via telehealth and through digital platforms, with the work funded by research trials, NDIS, Medicare and private fees. The clinical team at the EHC includes provisional psychologists on placements, mental health workers, registrars and clinical psychologists. EHC also provides supervision and resources to external mental health professionals focused on our published programs.

Essential

  • Current registration as a psychologist with approved Area of Practice Endorsement in Clinical Psychology with the Australian Health Professionals Registration Authority and a minimum 5 years post-graduate practitioner experience

  • Strong clinical assessment and cognitive behavioural therapy skills in anxiety, stress, low mood and emotion regulation

  • Experience assessing and/or treating mental disorders in older adults, adults, families and young people across individual, group, telehealth and digital formats, or willingness to learn

  • Accreditation as a supervisor with the Psychology Board of Australia

  • Experience supervising psychology students on placements and clinical psychology registrars

  • Working with Children Check Clearance

  • Working collaboratively in a team (such as with relevant psychologists, students, administration and research staff)

  • Experience building and managing working relationships with internal and external stakeholders (e.g. schools, GPs, allied health practitioners)

Desirable

  • Accredited provider and experience in delivery and supervision of the Cool Kids Program

  • Experience in the delivery of the Ageing Wisely, and Study without Stress programs

  • Experience implementing research protocols in a clinical context

  • Experience in running training and professional development workshops, talks or webinars

  • Interest in mental health research
