As the SMART Program Lead Presenter, you will work with the SMART team to ensure the successful delivery of STEM outreach and engagement activities for school students. You will plan, coordinate, and deliver established Science Shows and STEM Workshops, liaising with schools, external industry partners and internal stakeholders to achieve shared goals.

In this role you will:

  • Lead and mentor small event teams to deliver existing SMART Science Shows and STEM workshops for school students.
  • Plan and coordinate SMART Program visits to regional schools (incursions) in collaboration with team members, schools, and STEM industry partners.
  • Contribute to the development and evaluation of the SMART Program’s STEM outreach and engagement activities.

The role involves delivery of activities for regional schools within their communities, requiring up to 12 weeks of travel per year, generally for 1-2 two weeks at a time.

This fixed-term position is full time until May 2025 (with potential for extension) at a HEW 6 Higher Education Worker Level and will be located at the Callaghan Campus (Awabakal and Worimi land).

About the Unit

The SMART (Science, Maths and Real Technology) Program together with the Science and Engineering Challenge are the College of Engineering, Science and Environment’s two flagship outreach programs, focused on inspiring primary and high school students to consider a career in STEM*.

The SMART Program is a not-for-profit initiative established by the University in 1998. The SMART Program develops high quality STEM workshops and Science Shows, and delivers these activities at the University, online, and in school and community settings.

  • Outstanding and demonstrated presentation, public speaking, and facilitation skills with proven ability to adapt communication styles and engage effectively with diverse groups.
  • Outstanding and demonstrated organisational skills with a proven ability to deal with multiple tasks, manage projects effectively, establish priorities and meet deadlines. 
  • High level written communication skills, with capacity to prepare documents / presentations / reports, communicate plans and maintain accurate records, with high attention to detail.

What we offer

The remuneration for this position is from $90,316 - $99,655 FTE +17% superannuation and is commensurate with skills and experience.
