About the Role
Lead the charge in creating and delivering cutting-edge digital learning experiences for Melbourne Professional Education. You'll establish high-level design direction for new educational programs, overseeing and supporting a dedicated team of learning design colleagues. By collaborating with academic and professional teams, you'll leverage innovative technologies and sound instructional design to transform learning and ensure their programs remain at the forefront of online education. Additionally, you'll have the opportunity to train and support subject facilitators, guaranteeing the smooth implementation and success of subjects and courses.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Maintaining a detailed understanding of Melbourne Professional Education objectives, learning design frameworks, and priorities, and applying these appropriately to all course and subject-level design and development initiatives.
  • Designing and delivering support materials, workshops, and other staff development activities to build online teaching capacity for academic colleagues or business clients, and effectively implementing educational technologies in online graduate courses.
  • Demonstrating leadership in the innovative development of module, subject, and course-level designs through research-informed practice and designing resources to facilitate more efficient learning design and development processes

Who We Are Looking For
You are a skilled communicator with a proven ability to build strong relationships, both internally and externally. Your exceptional organisational skills and attention to detail will be complemented by a proactive and collaborative approach to problem-solving. You demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement and a passion for innovative solutions. You possess a deep-rooted understanding of the teaching and learning landscape and expert knowledge of online graduate courses projects. Demonstrating exceptional initiative and autonomy, you will confidently lead and collaborate while maintaining the highest professional standards.

You also have:

  • An appropriate postgraduate qualification with extensive relevant experience or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
  • Applied educational design experience in the development of curriculum based, high quality online learning resources and experiences within academic and/or corporate contexts.
  • Significant experience in the creation and implementation of effective educational design frameworks based on established models for constructive alignment of learning objectives, tasks and assessment.
  • Expertise in educational design, supporting academic staff, and translating theory into practical enhancements for student learning experiences through innovative use of technology.
  • Extensive experience in both online and in-person learning design, combined with a strong pedagogical foundation.

This role requires that the successful candidate must undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University. In the case the selected candidate doesn't have a valid Working with Children Check, they will be able to apply for the WWCC as part of the initial onboarding procedures.

MPE is hosted on a custodial basis within the Office of the Provost, however works across and supports all academic divisions.
