The Forum Restaurant, located in the heart of the University of Sydney Camperdown campus, is a boutique café serving only the very best of food, coffee, and overall experience. The team is growing and now require enthusiastic, energetic Kitchen Hand to join their team. With flexible workhours and no weekend work, this is a perfect opportunity for someone to come into a team that truly love what they do!

Your key responsibilities will be:

  • work as part of the team and provide a positive attitude towards every task, leading the way to help others when required

  • assist in the smooth running of the Forum Restaurant by ensuring the efficient running of the wash up area, including;

  • opening and closing the wash up area

  • maintaining a high standard of cleanliness

  • ensure that all equipment is prepared and set up prior to the restaurant/function commencing

  • ensure that all daily duties are performed according to the Forum’s operational and administrative standards, including:

  • checking supplies (in consultation with the chef).

  • check mats, equipment, machines, glassware, crockery and cutlery

  • accurately load the dishwasher

  • sort and stack according to WHS regulations

  • clean and sanitize, i.e. clean filters, clean dishwasher, clean breakdown areas, sweep / mop floors, clean walls, fridges, ovens, rubber mats, wipe down equipment

  • take care of garbage disposal and empty trash

  • advising the supervisor when bins need to be emptied or cleaned

  • undertake and maintain NSW food, safety, and hygiene standards, regulations and procedures

  • assist with stock takes

  • assists in ensuring all venue operating equipment is correctly used and maintained

About you

  • strong communication skills with a friendly attitude

  • ability to work in a fast-paced environment

  • be a team player

  • previous experience in Hospitality / a similar role 

  • knowledge of food and safety hygiene 

  • basic food preparation skills

  • flexible ‘can do’ attitude towards work
