Are you passionate about fostering academic excellence and nurturing the next generation of researchers? RMIT University is seeking a dedicated HDR Officer for our School of Health and Biomedical Sciences at Bundoora Campus This is an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact in the lives of our HDR students and to contribute to the vibrant research culture at RMIT.

What You'll Do:

  • Champion HDR Success: Play a pivotal role in organising and managing key school-specific activities like the biannual Research Day and milestone conferences. Your effort will shine a spotlight on our students' research achievements.

  • Provide Supportive Pastoral Care: Offer guidance and support to HDR students, ensuring they have a structured and supportive environment to thrive academically and personally.

  • Be at the Heart of HDR Development: Work from our Bundoora West Campus, becoming a key player in the development activities for our HDR community. Your role will involve facilitating high-quality research events, from symposia to industry collaborations, enhancing our students' research experience.

  • Engage in College-Wide Initiatives: Beyond the campus, engage in enriching HDR development activities across the College. Whether it's leading participants in the 3 Minute Thesis competition, orchestrating the Visualise Your Thesis event, or connecting our students with international opportunities, your efforts will help shape a vibrant, inclusive HDR community.

To be successful in this position, you’ll have:

  • Knowledge and understanding of the research environment in the higher education sector and ideally of the processes and practices in supporting higher degree research students.

  • Commitment to service excellence and persistence with outstanding issues to achieve timely resolution.

  • Demonstrated experience in providing administrative and logistical support in the organisation and delivery of a range of events and activities.

  • Highly developed organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to prioritise tasks.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing with people at all levels, internally and externally, in a tactful, professional and cooperative manner.

  • Demonstrated ability to collate data and prepare meaningful, accurate reports by deadlines.

  • A proven ability to manage tasks with multiple competing deadlines and to deliver quality outcomes from concept to implementation, review and evaluation, on time and on budget.

  • A tertiary qualification in a relevant area and/or relevant experience.
