About the Work Area
The University Club of Western Australia is a premier venue offering members, corporate clients, and the university community first-class conference and event facilities within a private club environment. Opened in 2005, the Club has become one of Perth’s top event venues, boasting numerous industry accolades, including three consecutive Gold Plate Awards. With close to 5000 Members, the Club features two stylish dining outlets, a lounge bar, three private dining rooms, and twelve function spaces, providing a vibrant event calendar for Members to enjoy.
About the Role
As the General Manager, you will be the main operating officer of the Club, responsible for all aspects of its operations, including amenities, staff, and programs. You will lead a high-performance team, manage operations, and serve as the principal liaison between the Club and members, guests, staff, the University, the broader community, and industry. Your leadership will drive the development and delivery of the Club's operational, financial, and strategic goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Align the Club’s objectives with strategic goals and make data-driven operational decisions.
- Prepare and monitor annual budgets, maintaining accurate financial accounts.
- Cultivate a member-focused culture and develop strategies to attract new members.
- Manage a diverse calendar of member activities and enhance the member experience.
- Oversee recruitment, training, and performance management of staff.
- Manage the Club’s communication plan and update stakeholders on relevant matters.
- Build relationships to enhance the Club’s relevance to UWA and the community.
About You
To be considered for this opportunity, you will demonstrate:
- Relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent competency with necessary licenses and industry regulation knowledge.
- Extensive experience managing a similar-sized Club with a proven track record of success.
- Strong leadership skills, community focus, and determination to exceed member expectations.
- Demonstrable experience leading high-performing teams with integrity and operational excellence.
- Proven ability to work effectively across different functions and strong business acumen for strategic and operational planning.
