FIT Indigenous Industry Based Learning Scholarship

Sir John Monash Scholarship for Excellence


Indigenous students enrolling in an undergraduate Information Technology degree at Monash University will receive this scholarship as part of the IT Indigenous Student Guarantee. As well as the scholarship, students will receive a guaranteed 23-week Industry-Based Learning (IBL) placement with a high-profile organisation counting towards 3 units of their course, participation in IBL interviews with industry, participation in IBL seminar series and IBL Careers Fair, participation in outreach via FIT Student Ambassador Program, Academic-Student Mentoring, and option to participate in other extracurricular activities.

Am I eligible?
You must be one of the following:
  • An Australian citizen

You must meet the following criteria:
  • A student enrolled or intending to enrol in any of the following on-campus undergraduate degrees in the Faculty of Information Technology at a Monash campus in Australia:
  • Bachelor of Computer Science
  • Bachelor of Computer Science (Honours)
  • Bachelor of Computer Science Advanced (Honours)
  • Bachelor of Information Technology
  • Bachelor of Engineering (Software Engineering) or
  • Double degrees involving these.
  • Are an Indigenous Australian **

**To be eligible you must provide a Confirmation of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Heritage certificate or a certified Statutory Declaration form to the William Cooper Institute. Benefits
  • $10,000 per annum (48 credit points of study) for the minimum number of credit points required to complete your degree.
  • 23 week placement with one of the industry partners of the Faculty of Information Technology.

To retain this scholarship:

  • You must maintain a Weighted Average Mark (WAM) of 50 each semester.
