Remuneration: $111,603 - $132,529 pa Level B (plus 17% employer superannuation)

                         $136,711 - $157,637 pa Level C (plus 17% employer superannuation)

The Opportunity

The School of Mathematics at Monash University invites applications for the positions of Lecturer / Senior Lecturer and Associate Professor. There are currently 5 positions available.

The School of Mathematics is a research leader with a strong international reputation. We are one of the largest of the five Schools in the Faculty of Science, and have close working collaborations with other Schools/Departments such as Physics and Astronomy, and Earth, Atmosphere and Environment as well as other Faculties such as Business and Economics, Medicine, Information Technology and Engineering as well as the Monash Data Futures Institute. The School also has strong links with outside institutions such as CSIRO, the Defence Science and Technology Organisation, and the National Australia Bank and a large number of research institutes and universities around the world.  

The School of Mathematics structure is organised into three sections:

  • Pure Mathematics
  • Applied & Computational Mathematics
  • Stochastic Analysis and Probability

Candidates will be expected to have an outstanding research record and help our drive for excellence in teaching and research across the School. Exceptional candidates in any area of mathematics will be considered, but areas that are of specific interest include combinatorics, topology, optimisation, numerical analysis, machine learning, mathematical physics, and statistical learning. Of particular interest are candidates with connections to AI and Data Science, an area that the School is actively looking to grow.  

To be considered you will have a PhD in mathematics or a related area, proven ability to perform independent research, strong evidence of effective teaching and the supervision of research students.
