 About the position

This position has been created for a special project to review the payments made to casual staff. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Workplace Relations and Support, the Employment Relations Specialist will provide specialist advice on matters relating to appropriate payments for casual staff and actions of the University moving forward, including the development of a compliance framework, training for internal HR staff. This role will also manage a case load of any casual underpayment issues identified, and work closely with the payroll team to rectify any identified underpayments.

Skills and Experience

To be considered for this position, you will have

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement innovative policies and practices in pursuit of continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain sound working relationships internally and externally and to communicate effectively on a range of sensitive and complex issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in a complex and political environment and balance a range of priorities and expectations.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a case load, develop training and compliance frameworks
  • Strong interpersonal skills including ability to negotiate, motivate, influence and build relationships.
