About This Opportunity 

The Student Employability Team is the Engineering, Architecture and Information Technology (EAIT) Faculty’s gateway for industry engagement with students. The team identifies and facilitates placement opportunities for all EAIT students and enhances the student experience and employability outcomes through the provision of a student employability program.

The Employability Events Officer position will have a strong focus on supporting the Senior Engagement Officer to deliver robust events and the student engagement program. The role will also provide administrative and external engagement support to the team in all activities related to the development, implementation and coordination of employability activities for students from within the Faculty.

Key responsibilities will include: 

Events and Communications

  • Assist in promoting initiatives that lead to an increase in the awareness, understanding, value and subsequent participation in placements and employability activities by EAIT students.

  • Assist with the development of placement and employability resources for the use of all EAIT students.

  • Write content and develop marketing and communications collateral in line with the University’s brand requirements.

  • Coordinate all logistics for employability events and engagement activities and assist in the delivery of program events, workshops and presentation.

  • Administer the EAIT Student Employability Team’s web and social media presence.

Information Management

  • Record and collate data associated with events and student-industry engagement activities and update internal and University databases to ensure currency of information for staff and students for reporting purposes.

  • Assist in the preparation and collation of engagement reports and documents that provide timely, accurate and relevant student engagement information to stakeholders including Faculty management, academic staff and senior administrative staff.

Administration

  • Liaise with other Faculties, Schools and UQ Student Employability Centre regarding student engagement and employability related matters.

  • Conduct all pre and post engagement administration, including but not limited to ensure student registration and attendance is accurately recorded, Ambassadors are well trained and briefed and industry partners needs are met.

  • Lead all administration requirements for the Industry Mentoring Program and EAIT Employability Ambassador Programs.

Systems and Processes

  • Contribute to the continual improvement of systems and processes of all aspects of the EAIT Student Employability Team’s remit.

  • Undertake any other duties as directed by the supervisor, which may include supporting the duties of the Employability Support Officer (WIL) position.

This is a full-time time (100%), fixed-term position until 17 January 2025. This position has become available to temporary support the role until the current incumbent returns from a secondment.

At HEW level 5, the full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $77,396.47 - $86,029.78, plus a generous super allowance of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be up to $90,553.87- $100,654.84 annually.  As these roles are covered by an Enterprise Agreement, you will also receive regular remuneration increases in line with the Enterprise Agreement.

About You  

  • Degree qualifications in business, marketing, education, events, humanities, administration or another related discipline, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education.  

  • Well-developed interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate effectively, negotiate effective outcomes and work effectively as a member of a high performing team. A strong orientation to the provision of a high level of customer service over the phone and in person in a busy environment.

  • Strong organisational skills and demonstrated ability to prioritise own workload, meet deadlines and work with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail and in accordance with policies and procedures.

  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills and digital literacy skills including CRM’s, websites and social media platforms.

  • Demonstrated experience in the development of marketing and communications materials in line with brand guidelines, and experience using relevant software (e.g. InDesign and Vision6).

  • High level of computer proficiency (competency at intermediate level at least) with software packages such as Microsoft Office (particularly Microsoft Excel and Word) and customer relationship management (CRM) packages.
