The Opportunity

The Faculty of Engineering has an opportunity for an Electrical Engineer - Makerspace. This is a key role to work across multiple Engineering Makerspaces to support a broad range of activities by providing advice to both students, academics, researchers, and the Makerspace Team as an expert in the area of Electrical Engineering and rapid prototyping.

In this role, you will review and provide expert advice to UNSW academics and UNSW College on the electrical/electronic components of course content being delivered in a UNSW Engineering Makerspace.

This role reports to the Makerspace Manager, supporting the Faculty of Engineering.

  • Salary, Level 6: $96,960 to $103,434per annum + 17% superannuation
  • Full time
  • Fixed term – 2-years
  • Location: Kensington – Sydney, Australia
  • On-site role 5 days per week

Skills and Experience

  • A degree in engineering or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, training and experience, or similar relevant skills and work experience. Experience in electronics and mechanical design is desirable.
  • Sound knowledge, skills and expertise in CAD, CNC operation and typical Makerspace equipment.
  • Demonstrated time management, organisational and problem-solving skills, including the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to make sound judgements and work both independently and as part of a team.
  • An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
  • Knowledge of health & safety (psychosocial and physical) responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
