About This Opportunity 

The Educational Media Animator is part of the Educational Media Production Team within ITaLI to design and create animated and static visual material for UQ courses.

Key responsibilities will include: 

  • Create diverse illustrations to support educational content, particularly in scientific contexts.

  • Offer guidance to production crews on post-processing techniques to optimize visual works.

  • Develop engaging and informative video animations using Adobe Creative Suite, particularly After Effects.

  • Provide occasional video production assistance, including editing, to Educational Media Producers.

  • Deliver training and mentorship on video asset preparation to learning designers and course teams involved in media production.

  • Establish efficient review processes among stakeholders to enhance iteration and minimize review duration.

  • Offer recommendations on hardware and software needs for the Educational Media Production Team and other technical staff.

  • Design digital assets aligned with brand guidelines, encompassing diagrams, infographics, PowerPoint presentations, and video production templates.


About You  

Essential

  • Qualifications equivalent to an undergraduate degree in film, animation, or game development, coupled with a minimum of 2 years' production experience, or a relevant combination of education and experience.

  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite applications, notably After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Premiere Pro, alongside Microsoft PowerPoint and Word.

  • Demonstrated aptitude in drawing, design, and creative visualization, emphasizing simplification of complex concepts.

  • Ability to navigate within a large organization, exercising judgment and problem-solving skills across various levels.

  • Strong time management and interpersonal skills fostering collaboration within a close-knit team environment while also demonstrating autonomy to prioritise competing work demands.

Desirable

  • Blender or similar 3D software.

  • After Effects expressions and essential graphics templates.

  • Basic web design including HTML, CSS and JavaScript.

  • Studio production and camera operation.

  • Audio editing in Adobe Audition.

  • High level knowledge and understanding of operational roles of different sections of the University and their areas of responsibility.

You must have unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of this appointment and may be required to complete background checks including, criminal history and education checks.
