The Digital Futures team is looking for an experienced Educational Designer to join their team.

As the new Educational Designer, you will provide college wide support to academic staff to enable the design and delivery of effective blended, hybrid and online learning environments.

You will keep up to date with the current best practice in teaching and learning, and analyse the trends, strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and risks of blended and online learning in the context of generative AI disruption.

You will organise and facilitate events, workshops and ideation sessions related to curriculum design and development and communicate the project status and milestones to the stakeholders. You will need to be proactive in identifying and pursuing potential projects and collaborations that can benefit the university, the student experience, and/or the student learning outcomes.

This role can be based in Hobart, Launceston, Burnie or working remotely from another location.

What you’ll do:

  • Work as a team member to collaborate with academic staff on the design, development, and delivery of unit and course initiatives in blended, hybrid, and online environments.
  • Maintain and communicate current best practice in learning and teaching. This includes identifying trends, strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and risks in the design and delivery of learning and teaching in the College, particularly in the context of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) disruption.
  • Ensure educational resources, activities and assessment meet the University’s policies and guidelines, national standards, and relevant legislation and regulations.
  • Organise and facilitate events, such as workshops, and contribute to the development of learning materials.
  • Lead and/or participate in technology-enhanced learning and teaching projects, including contributing to project management including communicating project milestones and outcomes.
  • Conduct tests and evaluations on the usability, sustainability and accessibility of learning experiences developed.

­What we’re looking for:

  • A relevant degree with substantial experience in Educational Design or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • The demonstrated ability to apply contemporary curriculum design theory, with evidence of successfully supporting academic staff in the design, development, delivery and review of units and courses.
  • Experience in training academic staff in groups and individually, with demonstrated ability to promote engagement, achievement and innovation in the design and development of contemporary learning experiences.
  • Demonstrated ability and experience in using a range of technologies including learning platforms and software for the design, development, implementation and evaluation of blended, hybrid and online learning environments.
  • Awareness of the current research and practices related to the use of GenAI in higher education, and an ability to apply GenAI tools to improve assurance of learning, learning outcomes and student experience.

Salary details

Appointment to this role will be at HEO 7 and will have a total remuneration package of up to $123,548 comprising base salary within the range of $96,071 to $105,597 plus 17% superannuation.
