  • Full-time, Fixed Term position until December 2026

  • Be responsible for RMIT Activator’s vision, strategic priorities, and operational objectives

  • Based at the Melbourne CBD campus, and hybrid ways of working

About the Role/You


This role involves leading the strategic development and daily operations of RMIT Activator, focusing on sustainable stakeholder engagement. You will provide clear leadership to the dedicated Activator team, whose mission is to develop entrepreneurial talent and creating opportunities for new ventures and ecosystem partnerships to grow impact in the areas of social, environmental and economic impact.

As the leader, you will play a pivotal role in enabling students to establish start-ups of high quality, purpose, and impact. In close collaboration with your teams, you will provide entrepreneurial skills to RMIT students and contribute to the expansion of opportunities for the creation, scaling, and translation of new ventures based on research expertise.

To be successful in this position, you’ll have:

  • Demonstrated strategic and organisational leadership skills.  

  • Proven ability to deliver entrepreneurial programs and objectives and deliverables in line with strategy.  

  • Proven ability to lead, develop and operationalise business plans.  

  • Ability to build and foster an inclusive, high-performing culture, and encourage teamwork and collaboration.  

  • Experience of fundraising and investment across sectors. 

  • Adept relationship development and management skills including ability to manage and influence key stakeholders and build communities.  

  • A working knowledge and established relationships and networks in entrepreneurial, start-up, angel and venture fund ecosystems and communities.  

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of marketing and communications, and digital channels.  

  • A working knowledge and understanding of programs and support structures for successful business creation.  

  • Strong financial management and analytical skills.
