At CSIRO, we deliver transformative, positive impacts through science and technology. The Director, Communication will lead a team to deliver innovative and effective external and internal communication helping to deliver impact and increase trust in science and CSIRO.

As a member of CSIRO’s Leadership Team, the Director will be an exceptional leader who provides vision and direction to CSIRO to increase impact from CSIRO research through innovative and effective communications.

The Director will develop and implement a communication strategy that focuses on increasing awareness of the impact of CSIRO’s science and innovation, highlights CSIRO’s standing in the Australian and international science and research community and overall, enhances the trust the community has in CSIRO and in science.

The Director will provide empowering leadership to their team, which includes the following functions: research unit partnerships and aligning communication plans with CSIRO’s overall strategic goals; media, issues and crisis management in partnership with research units and Government Engagement; supporting research program delivery and awareness and understanding of research objectives and impacts; external communication – science and research focussed content, including brand and social media; corporate and internal communication to ensure that our people remain informed, engaged, and aligned with the organisation's objectives, and fosters a positive and inclusive workplace culture.

The Director is also responsible for establishing and maintaining productive internal and external relationships (including with relevant CSIRO leaders, government, industry and the broader innovation community) and for driving business transformation and leading change in a supportive and cooperative way.

Location:        Preference for CSIRO’s capital city sites including Melbourne, Sydney, Canberra, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth.

Salary:            Attractive salary package + 15.4% superannuation, negotiable for the right candidate

Tenure:           Specified Term of 3 years full-time.
