Digital Learning Designer

  • Employment Type: Full time (35 hours per week)
  • Duration: 1 year contract
  • Remuneration: Level 6 $96,960 - $103,434 (depending on experience) + 17% super + leave loading
  • Location: Kensington, NSW (flexible hybrid work)

Why your role matters:

The Digital Learning Designer will liaise and collaborate with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to redesign online modules and produce content with the aim to provide participants with a transformative learning experience. The Digital Learning Designer will also provide support for users in Moodle.

The role reports to the Culture & Development Training Manager and has no direct reports.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the Culture & Development Training Manager to liaise with and discuss brief with subject matter experts (SME) and define the logistics of the capture of content.
  • Collaborate with the Culture & Development Training Team to produce content, including liaising with experts, videographer for recording and editing, creating templates and uploading content into authoring tools, sending to presenter for review and exporting for upload to LMS. 
  • Manage the content delivery for on demand online modules, to ensure the correct content is delivered through the correct platform. 
  • Design activities for online modules, by determining the appropriate activity tool for the audience and the assessment outcome. Construct the activity in the authoring software and test functionality. 
  • Manage queries and act as the super user for the LMS and student management system, as well as content creation software such as Articulate, flippingbook, YouTube studio, streaming systems and software.
  • Create Moodle pages, roll content and troubleshoot and provide support to users.
  • Initiate the enrolment in various systems for All-Staff Mandatory content. Liaise with appropriate departments across the faculty and the university to ensure the smooth enrolment of applicants into the correct modules.

Skills and Experience:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant experience or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, training and experience.
  • Excellent written, oral communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders at all levels. 
  • Excellent time management skills, with a demonstrated ability to respond to changing priorities, manage multiple tasks and meet competing deadlines by using judgement and initiative.
  • Demonstrated understanding of learning design principles/theory, practices and technologies relating education and online learning. 
  • Demonstrated experience in operating digital media technologies (such as Moodle (LMS) Articulate, YouTube studio and other streaming systems) and solutions to design and build interactive learning experiences with a strong pedagogical underpinning. 
  • Graphic design experience highly regarded.
  • Demonstrated experience in selecting educational technologies and integrating digital and interactive learning experiences at scale and pace to enable and increase student participation and engagement. 
  • Ability to interact with and critically evaluate new and emerging eLearning technologies. 
  • Strong organisational skills, ability to adapt to change, prioritise own workload and meet required deadlines in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and productively within a team, but also to take initiative and work independently while managing competing demands.
