Overview:

  • Play a pivotal role in providing senior leadership for all international activities in the School of Engineering
  • Full time, 3-year fixed term position as Deputy Dean, International with underlying continuing position at Level D or E
  • Salary Academic Level D ($155,691 - $171,521) or Level E ($200,550) with leadership allowance + 17% Superannuation
  • Based at the Melbourne CBD campus

About You

As the Deputy Dean, International, you will be responsible for providing strategic and scholarly leadership for all international activities within the School, including both research, and learning and teaching.

You will be responsible for strategic planning and the management of the School’s international operations in order to achieve School performance targets in student recruitment, as well as the delivery of high impact and influential research outcomes. You will work across the School and the College to promote collaboration across our international precincts.

A key goal is to expand our international research activities, including working with our staff across our international campuses to expand their research opportunities. The School will develop new innovation hubs across multiple international locations, and as the Deputy Dean, International, you will play a key role in driving this new activity.

The position will require the ability and willingness to travel across our international locations.

To be successful in this position, you’ll have as a minimum:

  • Strong leadership skills and demonstrated ability to provide leadership and expertise that will actively build improved outcomes for the School and College.
  • A strong record of academic and professional achievement, and the capacity to exercise leadership to enhance the standing of the School internationally.
  • Demonstrated capability in developing an organisation to deliver against agreed strategic goals.
  • Demonstrated understanding of University budget management and quality maintenance systems and good governance.

Mandatory qualifications

PhD in relevant field, combined with knowledge and achievements that meet the associate professor and professor criteria.

About the School

The School of Engineering is one of the largest Engineering Schools in Australia. It has over 350 staff and 7000 students, including 750 HDR students. The School is committed to driving innovation and collaboration through our industry partnerships. Our industry partners range from small companies to multinational organisations and we work together on translating our research into impact for our partners and the wider community.

In April 2024, the School will transition to the following Departments:

  • Chemical and Environmental Engineering
  • Civil and Infrastructure Engineering
  • Electrical and Electronic Engineering
  • Mechanical, Manufacturing and Mechatronics Engineering
