The La Trobe University Innovation & Entrepreneurship team sits within the Industry Engagement portfolio and has a mission to enhance the student and alumni experience as well as contribute to the entrepreneurial ecosystem through employability and upskilling. This is achieved through programs that develop an entrepreneurial mindset, build startups, and foster an entrepreneurial community. 


La Trobe University is one of the shareholders and founding member of the Cremorne Digital Hub (CDH), established with the support of the State Government ($10m government commitment). Membership in the CDH will provide La Trobe with access to a pool of tech companies, student placements and research contracts based in the Cremorne area, offering new partnership opportunities.  As a founding member, La Trobe will have to engage with these companies and will be part of a main platform sponsored by Victorian Government. It is intended through leveraging our exclusive service offerings in the CDH and through having a base within the community, to attract new partners back to Bundoora and into the Digital Innovation Hub (DIH). 


The role of the CDH Events Officer is to provide end-to-end operational support and stakeholder engagement to deliver the series of Cremorne Digital Hub events and initiatives. The CDH Events Officer will also provide on occasion support to the wider team with event related tasks. In conjunction with the members of the team, the role’s focus will be to liaise with venues, vendors, suppliers and internal and external stakeholders to La Trobe University and the Cremorne Digital Hub to deliver events and engagement activities in a timely manner and in line with our contracted obligations and KPIs/milestones with CDH.


The Events Officer will be required to be autonomous at times, able to within a small and dynamic team and is able to professionally represent and communicate with a variety of stakeholders. The Events Officer will contribute to a positive team culture that embraces continuous improvement and is in line with the LTU Cultural values. 

Skills and Experience

To be considered for this position, you will have

  • Demonstrated ability to apply theoretical knowledge, at degree level, in a straightforward way.
  • Ability to solve problems through the standard application of theoretical principles and techniques at degree level. 
  • Demonstrated ability to provide interpretation, advice and decisions on rules and entitlements. 
  • Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to develop excellent working relationships with, colleagues, students and other stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated capacity to organise work effectively and efficiently and deliver outputs in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, follow established procedures with limited supervision and contribute positively to an effective team.
  • High level proficiency in computer software packages including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, electronic mail, and the use of the internet as a research tool.
  • Require judgement based on theoretical and technical knowledge and ability to exercise initiative in the application of systems and procedures.
  • Demonstrated thorough knowledge of a complex set of rules, activities or procedures to particular cases.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the work practices, processes and procedures relevant to the role, which may include broader sector awareness.
  • Experience of planning and progressing work activities within general guidelines, using initiative and judgement.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including a demonstrated ability to effectively collate research and present data and options in a range of formats. 
  • Demonstrated experience in delivering an events schedule and an understanding of the elements of end-to-end event creation.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in writing for events and engagements.
  • Demonstrated experience liaising with internal and external stakeholders.
