  • Remuneration: $130,901 to $148,369 pa (HEW8) (inclusive of $110,613 to $125,373 salary pa, 17% superannuation and 17.5% recreation leave loading)

Who are we looking for?

We are seeking a Counsellor (multiple positions available) to join Student Services, Student Services and Wellbeing, Administrative Division.

This role is a part of a team of Counselling professionals who provide individual support to domestic and international students (face to face; telephone; Zoom), along with facilitating developmental, preventative, and early intervention strategies and programs.

The Student Services and Wellbeing portfolio leads the university-wide strategy and coordination of all non-academic matters related to the student experience. The portfolio delivers a range of services across the student life cycle, as well as providing advice and leadership to the university on a broad range of student and staff matters, including social justice and public policy.

Student Services is responsible for providing a range of services to support the health and wellbeing of students in areas of Accommodation, Chaplaincy, Counselling, Disability Support, International Student Support, Welfare Services and QUT Medical Centres..

What you need to succeed

  • Education, training and/or experience equivalent to the completion of postgraduate qualifications or progress towards postgraduate qualifications in a relevant discipline with extensive experience.
  • Registered Psychologist with AHPRA or an accredited mental health Social Worker with the AASW.
  • Demonstrated excellence in client counselling work and commitment to service provision with a diverse population in a busy environment, including a commitment to evidence-based therapeutic approaches.
  • Demonstrated high-level skills and experience in professional practice, including key elements such as confidentiality, records, boundaries, supervision, and professional development.
  • Demonstrated capacity to be a highly effective team member, with strong personal skills in self-awareness, communication and collaboration, problem solving and team contribution.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, support and deliver workshops, training and developmental programs in a range of formats and contexts to students and staff.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of current issues in tertiary education such as, student wellbeing and mental health, and diversity and inclusion.
  • Demonstrated capacity and willingness to engage actively with relevant networks and build partnerships and collaboration.
