About the Role
Join us in shaping the future of biodiversity conservation at the Melbourne Biodiversity Institute.

As the Communications and Events Coordinator, you will hold a crucial position in advancing our mission both within and outside academic spheres. Reporting directly to the Deputy Director, your responsibilities will include spearheading strategic communication efforts, overseeing digital content and significant events, and leveraging social media platforms to effectively engage a wide range of audiences.

Your responsibilities will include:


  • Develop and deliver engaging internal communications, including newsletters, announcements, and employee stories, to keep staff informed and engaged. 
  • Support media engagement by identifying newsworthy stories, and working with the university and faculty media teams. 
  • Coordinate and deliver a range of internal and external Institute events, including workshops, and seminars. This will include managing event logistics such as venue booking, catering, speaker arrangements, and registrations. 
  • Manage and update the MBI website to ensure clear and current information for audiences. 
  • Develop engaging social media content for use on University and Faculty channels to promote the Institute's work and activities. 
  • Create and implement effective communication strategies and alignment with organisational goals. 


Who we are looking for
You are a proactive and imaginative communicator with experince in event management and a deep passion for driving positive change at the nexus of science, environmental conservation, and societal impact.

You will also have:

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, public relations, events management, or a related field.
  • Experience in communications, events or related roles.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor communication to different audiences
