About You


The Cloud Engineer – Azure will require Cloud skills that demonstrate strong expertise in Azure. They will be a Subject Matter expert in an Azure platform (Landing zone) and expert knowledge in other Azure services.

You will be responsible for the strategy, roadmap, cost optimisation, security, and development of the Azure platform at RMIT, ensuring it exceeds industry best practices and acts as a beacon of well management to other areas.

The individual will have strong DevOps skills and experience in managing, maintaining and developing CI/CD pipelines to manage the Azure platform.

The role will also be a mentor to Senior Cloud Engineers and Cloud Engineers in Azure platform and operations.

To be successful in this position, you’ll have as a minimum:

  • Track record of successfully leading the support and management of an Azure Platform in large environments, developing security, network, and account patterns.
  • Experience taking ownership of a customer request/project from ideation to deliver technologically innovative solutions ensuring customer needs and operationalisation are achieved.
  • Ability to work cooperatively within a team, mentoring other cloud engineers in continual improvement of the Azure platform.
  • Project planning and management skills with the ability to work to a fixed time frame and effectively deliver outcomes that meet stakeholder requirements under critical time and budget constraints.
  • Demonstrated experience in Azure solution design development and expert of cloud Security best practices and architecture principles.
  • Demonstrated experience and expert knowledge in Azure services to build, design and implement an Azure platform – Landing Zone, Management Groups, Gateway services, Azure Networking, permissions, CI/CD, and Security Services.
  • Strong experience in maintain and implementing CI/CD pipelines, delivering solutions as Infrastructure as Code (Azure DevOps, Terraform etc.).
  • Expert knowledge and experience in supplementary technologies such as server infrastructure, operating systems, networking, virtualisation (VMWare), and cloud computing.
  • Strong knowledge and demonstrated experience in leading Agile, and DevOps practices. Developing monitoring architecture and implementing monitoring agents, dashboards, escalations, and alerts.
  • Experience in solution design and delivery with Education, Teaching and/or Research and Innovation preferred but not essential.
