About This Opportunity 

This is an exciting opportunity for a Physiotherapist with experience in neurological and geriatric physiotherapy to join the dedicated team of Clinical Educators within our world-leading School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences.

This position is tailor-made for experienced physiotherapists seeking to apply their clinical expertise to a diverse population of clientele, whilst educating the next generation of physiotherapy professionals.

In this role you will work in the Neurological Ageing and Balance (NAB) clinic which provides treatment and rehabilitation for our clients, and neurological placement opportunities for our students. You will work in a team of experienced neurological physiotherapists in a clinic that is designed for student learning, with access to specialised equipment.

Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: 

  • Facilitate and supervise individual and groups of students performing profession specific or inter-professional clinical practice in the Neurological Ageing and Balance clinic.

  • Monitor, evaluate and report on students’ development of clinical skills and knowledge, utilising profession specific tools and criteria.

  • Develop and implement appropriate student education processes and models of clinical supervision to support students’ learning as applicable for their existing knowledge and skills.

  • Facilitate and moderate student-led professional development sessions on topics related to clinical practice.

  • Consult with students regarding their work integrated learning.

  • Guide, develop and deliver evidence-based interventions for clients in conjunction with students and clinical staff.

  • Provide direct clinical services to clients as required for quality and continuity of care and clinic development.

  • Using recent professional practice with advanced knowledge, provide guidance, implement and monitor operational and clinical procedures related to neurological/gerontological physiotherapy in relevant work areas, including telerehabilitation.

  • Perform a range of administrative functions in the Clinics including liaising with University based clinical education liaison managers and/or course coordinators regarding student placement and assessments.

  • Foster the School’s relationship with industry, professional bodies and the wider community.

This is a full-time (100% FTE), continuing position at HEW level 7.

The full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $94,754 - $103,180, plus a generous super allowance of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be up to $110,862 - $120,721 annually. As this role is covered by an Enterprise Agreement, you will also receive regular remuneration increases – at least once a year.

About You  

  • A degree in Physiotherapy with a minimum of 4 years' relevant clinical experience.

  • Advanced knowledge and ability to deliver evidence based clinical practice in the areas of neurological and/or gerontological physiotherapy across a range of clinical areas, including telerehabilitation.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of clinical education issues and blended methods of clinical education.

  • Demonstrated abilities as an effective educator and communicator in the area of physiotherapy clinical education such as student supervision, educational evaluation, training and assessment marking.

  • Ability to develop and implement innovative methods of instruction in clinical settings to enhance clinical skills and knowledge development.

  • Ability to establish effective relationships and to represent and promote the clinical discipline at an interprofessional, university and wider community level, including industry, government and professional bodies.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and with high levels of initiative and autonomy.

  • High level inter-personal and oral and written communication skills.

  • Ability to prioritise tasks, multi-task and manage time effectively.

  • Experience in vestibular physiotherapy would be considered advantageous.

In addition, the following mandatory requirements apply:

  • Work Rights: You must have unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of this appointment to apply. Visa sponsorship is not available for this appointment. 

  • Mandatory Immunisations: It is a condition of employment for this role that you will be required to provide evidence of immunisation against certain vaccine preventable diseases.

  • AHPRA registration: It is a requirement of this position that the incumbent holds and maintains full AHPRA registration.

  • First Aid/CPR certification: It is a requirement of this position that the incumbent holds and maintains valid first aid and CPR certifications. The employee is required to provide evidence of certification at commencement.

  • Medicare Provider Number and Driver’s Licence: It is a requirement of this position that the incumbent is eligible for a Medicare Provider Number and must possess and maintain a current Driver’s Licence.
