About This Opportunity 

Embrace a dynamic role as a Clinical Database Administrator, where you will drive excellence in data programming, management, and maintenance. Under the expert guidance of the Lead Data Manager, your contributions will be instrumental in delivering high quality outputs to meet the diverse data requirements of our clinical trial.

Key responsibilities will include: 

  • Perform day-to-day administration of electronic data capture (EDC) and randomisation systems, including managing user accounts, electronic sign-offs, and database lock during closeout of trials

  • Responsible for electronic Case Reform Form (eCRF) design and development, completing user acceptance testing (UAT) before production, maintaining the systems during the life of a clinical trial, and closing of systems and archiving data at trial completion

  • Monitor quality of electronic data and ensure timely and accurate data collection by developing and programming data quality acceptance checks, data screening, and data audit reports

  • Management of web-based training in EDC and randomisation systems and ongoing EDC support for AKTN clinical operations staff and site coordinators, including monitoring the AKTN data email account and providing timely responses to user emails

  • Develop EDC and randomisation user guides and instruction manuals for site coordinators and AKTN clinical operations staff

  • Work with biostatistics staff in the preparation of statistical reports for meetings of Data and Safety Monitoring Boards

  • Act as an integral part of a small team in a flexible working environment including participation in regular face to face AKTN trials meetings and Data Management group meetings

This is a full-time, fixed-term position for up to 1 year. At HEW level 6, the full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $88,099.39 - $94,512.08, plus a generous super allowance of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be up to $103,076.28 - $110,579.13 annually. As this role is covered by an Enterprise Agreement, you will also receive regular remuneration increases – at least once a year.

About You  

  • Completion of a relevant degree in Information Technology, Data/Computer Science, Software Engineering with subsequent experience as a database administrator/programmer or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training

  • Experience with programming languages for processing, manipulating and reporting of data (e.g., MS SQL, R, Python)

  • Experience in web-based electronic data capture systems (e.g., REDCap, Medidata)

  • Demonstrated problem solving and planning skills with the ability to prioritise own workload and meet deadlines

  • Ability to work with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail

  • Ability to work effectively within a team and autonomously and be self-motivated combined with a high level of initiative, drive and enthusiasm

  • Knowledge of Good Clinical Practice (GCP), Good Clinical Data Management Practices (GCDMP) and experience in working with health datasets would be desirable

  • Understanding of statistical concepts and working knowledge of a statistical programming language (e.g., R, SAS, SPSS, STATA) would be desirable
