The Opportunity:

Working within a collaborative leadership team and reporting to the Chief Digital Officer and Executive Director Campus Services, this key leadership role within the Digital and Campus Services (DCS) portfolio will provide excellence in leadership and direction for the Office of the CISO within DCS. As the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), you will play a critical role in developing and implementing a comprehensive converged security model inclusive physical and cybersecurity strategy to protect our University’s sensitive information, systems, and infrastructure. You will lead a team of talented professionals to proactively identify and mitigate security risks, ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements, and foster a culture of security awareness and best practices across the organization.

About You:

  • Accountability for all functional areas of the Office of the CISO, focusing on strategic planning and actively contributing to the development and delivery of outcomes of the University’s Strategic Plan.
  • Lead, motivate and develop staff within the Office of the CISO team/s, acting as the escalation point of contact for complex and sensitive issues.
  • Develop, implement and maintain the University Information / Cyber Security Strategy and Business Resilience framework considering continuity planning for VU’s technology and physical environments, ensuring on-going monitoring of its comprehensive Information Security, Risk, and Compliance Management Framework as it relates to the availability, integrity, and confidentiality of university information.
  • Provide outstanding professional advice, service and support that is both efficient and timely and  influence to establish practices, templates, policies, tools, and partnerships that expand and mature these capabilities for the organisation.
  • Plan, recommend and actively monitor the annual operating budget and the longer-term capital spending budget related to the Security functions of the University
  • Monitor performance, undertake external reviews, benchmarking and statistical analysis in order to continuously improve the provision of converged physical and information security services, parking services, and records management services while ensuring appropriate risk management and business continuity is forefront.

Conditions & Benefits:

This full-time position will be offered on a 3-year fixed term contract basis. A highly attractive remuneration package is on offer, including an employer superannuation contribution of up to 17%.
