a. About the Opportunity
The School of Civil Engineering at the University of Sydney is calling for expressions of interest from suitably qualified graduates, academics and professionals in Civil Engineering to fill Education focused roles in the School on a casual employment basis. Education focused is a specialist category of academic engagement reserved for talented educators with a passion for and demonstrated excellence in pedagogy.
The responsibilities of education focused academic staff roles include lecturing, tutoring, demonstrating, supervision and marking of examinations, supervision of thesis projects, assessment of undergraduate projects and assignments.
The aim is to select and foster a cohort of outstanding educators to assist the strategic imperative of the University to transform our curriculum and learning experience for our students by focusing their attention on delivering, designing and innovating the educational experience.
b. About you

As such, we see the importance of recruiting talent aligned to these values and are looking for suitably qualified graduates, academics and professionals in Civil Engineering who have the following:
- Experience in teaching and learning, as evidenced by participation in team teaching and teaching in a variety of settings
- Demonstrated understanding of the subject-matter within the discipline
- A developing knowledge and understanding of contemporary pedagogical practice and design
Successful candidates will be placed on an eligibility list for casual appointment. Allocation of specific hours of work will be subject to consultation to align skills, expertise and availability.
