About the role:

The Associate Research Fellow (ARF) will support an externally-funded Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF) and projects led by A/Prof Serene Yoong among a range of other activities. This include supporting the establishment of trials assessing the impact of online interventions on child outcomes and undertaken preliminary work to understand determinants to delivery of best practice care. The Associate Research Fellow will be required to work with a team to coordinate data collection, and data management, support stakeholder management and reporting process and support dissemination processes (including data collection). This role will be situated within Global Centre for Preventive Health and Nutrition, a WHO-Collaborating Centre of Obesity Prevention and the Institute for Health Transformation with leading researcher in public health nutrition and preventive health.

As an Associate Research Fellow you will:

  • Conduct high-quality research, scholarship and creative activities generating high impact outputs, with mentorship
  • Engage collaboratively to participate in novel and high-quality research or creative activities
  • Communicate outputs, including as part of team
  • Ensure impact of academic activity on the field and the community
  • Support and may lead applications for funding for research and creative activities

To be successful, you’ll have:

  • PhD in a relevant discipline and/or other relevant qualifications and experience (or pending submission in 6 months)
  • Demonstrated organisational skills, particularly in project management of research trials and survey data collection.
  • Emerging research and scholarship through publications, and/or exhibitions as appropriate to the discipline
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a proven ability to establish good working relationships with colleagues
  • Experience with supporting grant preparation (for category 1 and 2 grants).
  • Demonstrated ability to meet competing deadlines, and liaise with key stakeholders, decision-makers and other researchers
  • Experience with managing research databases with programs/software such as REDCap, Excel, SPSS and/or Stata
  • Demonstrates an understanding of the issues that impact on Indigenous health and other disadvantaged populations.
