We’ve achieved an enviable reputation for research and teaching excellence in a short 50 years and are ranked among the world’s top universities. Monash University is one of the best global universities (ranked 44th, THE 2023, and 42nd, QS 2024). It is also one of the world’s most global universities, with campuses across four continents, as well as the biggest in Australia, with 85,000 students from more than 160 countries.

The Faculty of Information Technology (FIT) is the only faculty within Australia’s prestigious Group of Eight universities dedicated to information technology, and is one of the largest faculties of its kind anywhere in the world. Because of its disciplinary focus and the areas in which it works the Faculty is by nature deeply collaborative, facilitating interdisciplinary ties that span the broader research community both within Monash and outside it.

Information systems research sits within the Digital Transformation Discipline Group, led by Professor Juliana Sutanto, in the Department of Human-Centred Computing (HCC). Information systems researchers in the Group have been publishing in top information systems journals and conferences. The Department of HCC is Australia’s leading centre for human-centred computing with expertise spanning information systems to advanced visualization, learning analytics, interaction design, digital ethnography and inclusive technologies. It is one of three departments in FIT. The advantage of information systems researchers working in an IT Faculty is the opportunities to access the technologies and collaborate with technology experts for impactful information systems research.

Monash University strongly advocates diversity, equality, fairness and openness . We fully support the gender equity principles of the Athena SWAN Charter and invite you to join us in celebrating women in STEMM .
