About the opportunity

We seek a distinguished professional to join us as a senior chemical and/or environmental engineering educator at the Associate Professor / Professor level. The ideal candidate will bring knowledge in environmental conservation, such as water resource management, air, water and soil quality, emissions reduction and climate change mitigation, pollution control, circular economy and resource recovery and recycling technologies, and comprehensive chemical engineering expertise. This role is crucial for spearheading our newly-introduced multidisciplinary environmental engineering curriculum while enriching our established chemical engineering courses.

We are seeking a versatile individual capable of bringing interdisciplinary approaches to train competent graduates to work across these disciplines in developing sustainable engineering solutions. Most importantly, the applicant must have knowledge of chemical engineering subjects and be able to teach the core units in chemical engineering courses.

The successful applicant will be involved in adopting innovation in curriculum design and delivering learner-centric teaching practices to achieve outstanding student educational experience. Key responsibilities include the regular creation, review, and enhancement of course content, meeting the immediate educational demands in chemical and environmental engineering, and elevating the quality of both chemical and environmental engineering education through innovative teaching and research. Moreover, this position entails mentoring junior faculty members, emphasising pedagogical excellence, and career growth.

This unique role offers the chance to:

  • Help in leading curriculum enhancements through continuous enhancement of learning and teaching materials, student feedback and instructional material evaluation, ensuring ongoing curricular improvements

  • Utilise educational technology, uphold academic integrity and contribute actively to educational policy and committee work

  • Drive educational leadership by aiding in strategic academic planning, goal setting, and policy formulation within the academic institution

  • Guide junior academics in teaching strategies, curriculum design, and professional development

  • Undertake and promote research in educational practices, focusing on evolving teaching techniques, technological integration in education, and effective pedagogical methods in chemical and environmental engineering

  • Engage with a broad range of partnerships and administrative and service functions in the school, faculty and University and professional activities within the disciplines

The Associate Professor/Professor Environmental and Chemical Engineering (Education Focused) dedicates the majority of their contribution to teaching and teaching-related activities (up to 70%), with a minimum of 20% research and 10% governance, service, and engagement. Additionally, they will mentor junior academics, providing advice on teaching methodologies, education research approaches, publications, and career advancement.

Term and remuneration

The successful candidate will be offered a continuing position on a full-time basis and will be offered a competitive remuneration package commensurate with the responsibilities of the position and the candidate’s relevant experience and qualifications.
