OVERVIEW
We are looking for an outstanding forward-thinking academic leader to join our well-established psychology program.

The School of Arts and Humanities, Edith Cowan University seeks to appoint an Associate Professor of Psychology who will be a senior academic in our psychology programs, contributing to the development of the next generation of researchers and professionals through research, teaching and professional engagement. This new continuing position, located at the Joondalup campus, joins an existing team responsible for our Bachelor of Psychology and associated honours degree. This team also undertakes vital research on mental health, ageing, wellness, virtual reality technologies, and the role of psychological experimental techniques in support of other research projects. We have recently appointed five new junior academics and this position will complement their arrival and build on the long-term successes of Psychology at Edith Cowan University.

THE ROLE
The Associate Professor of Psychology will provide outstanding, forward-thinking academic leadership within the discipline of Psychology, encompassing all aspects of academic development (teaching, research, and industry / community engagement). The Associate Professor will collaborate with other senior leaders on innovative developments in Psychology courses and research programs. A particular focus of the role will be to mentor and develop more junior colleagues while maintaining a strong research program and leading teaching, curriculum development and course innovation.

ORGANISATIONAL CONTEXT
The Associate Professor reports to the Associate Dean (Psychology, Counselling and Criminology) and will be a senior member of the Psychology academic group; they will work closely with colleagues in the Professional Psychology group responsible for postgraduate clinical education.  In addition, you will also collaborate with other senior academics in the school to forge transdisciplinary solidarity in our academic work.

SELECTION CRITERIA
You will have a PhD in psychology and will need to demonstrate, based on a track record of outstanding achievement, excellence in the following domains of work:

  • Research (including research leadership), with a particular emphasis on discovering innovative, real-world solutions of significance and benefit to society.

  • Engagement with external stakeholders that advances teaching and research success through industry and community partnerships.
  • Innovation in identifying problems and designing solutions that help achieve the goals of the school and university.

    BENEFITS AND REMUNERATION
    This position provides a full-time salary of $166,295 to $182,832 pa plus 17% University superannuation contribution.
