About the Program

To be eligible to apply for this position under the program, applicants need to:

  • Have been engaged by Curtin as a casual academic in the last two years
  • Be a teaching academic with experience teaching at least two terms in the last two years within higher education in Australia

About this Opportunity

The School of Nursing is seeking to enhance its capacity and leadership through the appointment of 5 x Continuing Academics, two at the Associate (ALA) level and three at the Lecturer (ALB) level, who will undertake teaching and research. Applicants who hold a doctorate should apply as ALB (Lecturer), and those without a doctorate may apply as ALA (Associate Lecturer). You will need to be passionate about delivering high-quality, modern, innovative and competitive teaching and scholarship, and about how that teaching and scholarship informs quality education, and advocates for equity and excellence in Nursing, midwifery or oral health therapy education.

  • Associate Lecturer (Oral Health Therapy) - Full-Time Positions (2 Available):
    We are looking for dedicated teaching professionals with a specialisation in Oral Health Therapy to join our team. The successful candidates will be responsible for providing clinical teaching in our Bachelor of Oral Health Therapy program, enhancing the learning experience of our students through practical and theoretical teaching methods.
  • Lecturer (Midwifery) - Full-Time Position (1 Available):
    We seek a Medicare-endorsed midwife with a PhD to fill this role. This role will see you teach specialised units within our Graduate Certificate in Midwifery Screening, Diagnostics, & Prescribing program. This is a unique opportunity for professionals passionate about imparting advanced knowledge and skills in midwifery.
  • Lecturer (Teaching and Research, Nursing) - Full-Time Position:
    This role is designed for an academic with a keen interest in bridging the gap between theory and practice in a clinical setting. The successful candidate will engage students in quality improvement initiatives relevant to their clinical environments and oversee coursework masters students in executing projects related to quality and safety. This position offers the chance to significantly impact students' practical skills and theoretical understanding within our Graduate Entry Master of Nursing (MG-NURSPR) and Master of Advanced Practice (MC-ADVPRC) programs.
  • Lecturer (Teaching and Research, Oral Health Therapy) - Full-Time Position:
    We are looking for a dedicated teaching and research academic with a PhD to join our oral health therapy team.  The successful candidates will be responsible for teaching specialised units in our Bachelor of Oral Health Therapy program, enhancing the learning experience of our students through innovative teaching methods.

Essential Criteria

  • For ALA a postgraduate qualification and significant clinical experience in the discipline of Oral Health Therapy is required.
  • A doctoral qualification in relevant discipline (ALB)
  • Proven high-level teaching skills with a demonstrated reflective and collaborative approach to teaching and an up-to-date knowledge of contemporary schools.
  • Experience in curriculum development and unit/course coordination.
  • Experience in research and/or in the scholarship of learning and teaching (ALB – not essential if applying at level ALA).
  • Demonstrated high level communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to foster the development of a collegial and supportive working environment and the ability to interact with students, staff and the educational community with cross-cultural sensitivity.
