About the Role

This position provides leadership and support to achieve Unit priorities, while playing a strong role in overseeing the Academic Development teams, consisting of Lecturer: Academic Development, and Learning Designers, responsible for supporting staff across Academic Units in their endeavours to drive enhancements across the University’s curriculum. The support and leadership priorities align with and actively contribute to achieving the ambitions outlined in the University’s Enterprise25 strategic plan and the Academic Enterprise Plan 2021-2025. 

A key aspect of this role is to provide support and advice to the Director: TIU, Academic Unit Dean of Programs, and the Associate Dean: UniSA Online, to achieve stated priorities that aim to strengthen program-based teaching and learning practice. This position also takes a lead role in coordinating the development and delivery of high-quality courses offered by UniSA Online.
About the Teaching Innovation Unit

The Teaching Innovation Unit (TIU) provides a range of services to academic staff of the University. It plays a major role in facilitating the promotion and implementation of institutional teaching and learning priorities, as well as working with aspects of the institution’s postgraduate research agenda. The Unit supports the University’s long-standing commitments to quality education, student-centred learning, and staff development which positions it as an innovative, outward-looking institution built on more than a century's experience as a leader in educating professionals and applied research.
Essential Skills and Experience

  • Significant academic leadership along with a doctoral qualification 
  • Highly developed people management skills, with a team orientation and ability to work collaboratively
  • Demonstrated experience in curriculum design and development, and adopting innovative learning technologies to enhance student learning
  • Commitment to professional development, including developing and mentoring colleagues
  • Ability to think and act strategically, with a commitment to planning and delivering continuous improvement programs
