About This Opportunity
This is a leadership position to drive Library strategic planning and technology infrastructure, manage legislative responsibilities, and facilitate delivery of Library services through developing people, technology, partnerships, and processes and practice. The aim is to provide opportunities and support in a range of ways so that the Library delivers value now and into the future, and that Library people learn and grow in line with UQ opportunities and needs. This includes ensuring that the Library is working within its financial plan.
The Associate Director of OUL will work closely with the University Librarian and collaborate with Library Directors and peers across the University, particularly the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) (DVCA) portfolio, the Chief Operating Officer (COO) portfolio, and other stakeholders. The position holder has the opportunity to touch every part of the Library and many parts of the University.
Key responsibilities will include:
Provide expert advice and high-level strategy and operations input to the University
Librarian and Library Executive
Steer and direct the teams and experts within the Office of the University Librarian: Strategic Planning, Library Technology Service, Organisational Development, Copyright, Engagement and Communication, and Administration
Lead and steer Library strategy, culture and technological development. Supporting and informing the development of all Library Directorates
Oversee engagement with stakeholders and the wider community to increase visibility, credibility, collaboration and partnership.
As a member of the Library Executive ensure and support that the Library contributes effectively to DVCA plans, UQ Strategy and strategic imperatives.
This is a full-time, fixed-term position for up to 5 years.
At HEW level 10A, the full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $142,104 - $189,126, plus a generous super allowance of up to 17%.
About You
A postgraduate degree and extensive relevant experience; or extensive experience in managing and leading dynamic work units in a University or similar environment; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education and training
Extensive expertise and knowledge of best practice, methodologies, and opportunities in one or more of the following: organisational change, strategic planning and implementation, IT management, university library administration.
Demonstrated capacity for ideas development, innovation, leadership, networking and relationship building. Proven ability to respond flexibly and generate innovative solutions to problems to achieve goals.
Demonstrated ability to work within a senior management team and to liaise at a high level with stakeholders across a large organisation. Excellent team player working collaboratively with others, with cultural competency and a positive and cooperative attitude and a mindset of inclusivity and support for colleagues.
