About This Opportunity 

The Administrative Officer, Engagement is a joint position with the School of Law and the School of Economics. You will be responsible for designing and delivering a range of initiatives within both schools that supports engagement and promotes research with staff, students, alumni and a range of external stakeholders.

 Key responsibilities include:  

  • Liaise with staff, students, alumni and external stakeholders to support the planning and implementation of school engagement activities.

  • Coordinate activities and events that enhance the student experience and deepen learning.

  • Coordinate a range of academic workshops and conferences that support and promote the school’s research. 

  • Coordinate the production of collateral in support of scholarships, prizes, program projects and events.

  • Coordinate content required for the promotion of school activities, initiatives and program that may be used for news, events and school websites.

  • Promote greater awareness of, and engagement with, the school’s, through management of their websites and social media channels.

  • Ensure smooth daily operations by managing administrative tasks efficiently and adhering to financial policies and relevant approval processes, while striving for continuous improvement.

  • Support the delivery University of Queensland Law Journal (UQLJ) liaising with journal editors to collate content for printing and distribution.

  • Provide general administrative support as required.

This is a full-time fixed term position through to December 2024.

At HEW level 5, the full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $77,396.47 - $86,029.78, plus a generous super allowance of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be up to $90,553.87 - $100,654.84 annually. As these roles are covered by an Enterprise Agreement, you will also receive regular remuneration increases in line with the Enterprise Agreement.


About You  

  • A degree or diploma with subsequent relevant experience or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education training.

  • An understanding of event management principles and/or social media engagement strategies or the capacity to rapidly acquire this knowledge.

  • A commitment to customer service with experience in stakeholder engagement and internal service provision.

  • Demonstrated competency in high level written, oral and interpersonal communication and negotiation.

  • Proven experience in effective and positive communication and the ability to utilise these skills to improve work processes in challenging situations.

  • Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office Suite 365 and the ability to learn software that supports events and engagement activities.

  • Proven capacity to prioritise work across multiple projects often with conflicting deadlines.

  • Be able to exercise initiative and judgement as appropriate.
