About the Role 
As an Academic Skills Adviser, your mission is to empower students by improving their language, academic, and professional skills. You'll collaborate on curriculum-embedded workshops, online resources, co-curricular programs, and individual tutoring. This cultivates academic progress, employability, and a sense of belonging within the University community. 

Your responsibilities will include: 


  • Contributing to the planning, development, delivery, and evaluation of the Academic Skills team's programs, resources, and services across the University. 
  • Utilising pedagogies, learning designs, and educational technologies to facilitate student-centered learning that is accessible, interactive, and fosters learner reflexivity 
  • Ensuring the efficient and effective delivery of Academic Skills programs, resources, and services. 

Who we are looking for 
We’re looking for highly organised, detail-oriented individuals with a strong work ethic, commitment to continuous improvement, openness to new ideas, and creative approaches to problem-solving. You will have a background in coordinating curricular and co-curricular programs and services to support student's academic skills development at a tertiary level. As a team player with excellent interpersonal skills, you will liaise with various stakeholders to achieve successful outcomes. 

You will also have: 


  • Postgraduate qualifications in a pertinent field (e.g., applied linguistics, education, TESOL) or an equivalent blend of relevant experience and education/training. 
  • Demonstrated experience teaching academic and/or language and communication skills to diverse student cohorts in a university environment, including English as an Additional Language (EAL) students.  
  • Demonstrated experience using educational technologies and online learning platforms (such as Learning Management Systems) to strategise, create, deliver, and assess online learning materials that facilitate students' academic skills growth. 
  • Expertise in current and emerging trends in higher education, including online learning, learning design, and pedagogies for enhancing students' academic skills development. 

Applicants with any of the following specialisations are strongly encouraged to apply: 
- Experience providing Academic Skills advice to PhD candidates
- Experience or disciplinary background in Science or, Veterinary and Agricultural Science, and with Graduate Researchers
